So as I have mentioned before I now work in a little restaurant. Most of our customers are all over the age of 50....seriously. We may have a few here in there come in that are younger but its not often! So pretty much I hang out with elderly people all day, but I have come to really enjoy that. You can learn so much from these and people and their stories always amaze me. Mr. Darrell is a regular and I see him just about everyday. He is a very kind hearted man and also the lead singer of a southern gospel group. Cool, huh? Before I get to the main point of this story let me give ya some side knowledge. There is a cabinet door that sticks out farther then the counter in one of our work stations. Whoever thought this idea was a good one, obviously had no sense. People hit their head on this door ALL the time. Well, I seem to be the one that does it just about everyday. Today I slammed it so hard that I now have a beautiful black goose egg on my forehead. (attractive!)
While I was filling up Mr. Darrells coffe mug I asked him in a joking manner if he had any life advice. He then turns and says "How many times are you going to hit your head on that cabinet before you realize its there and stop" (At this point im like...uhh what?) I said "Well, I dont hit it on purpose, I just get wrapped up in what Im doing that I dont think about it until I hit it." He then says "And what do you do after you hit it? You acknowledge that you messed up again, and keep going" Im still a little confused at this point but he clears it up for me by saying "Kaitlyn, we are all humans. We dont go looking to make mistakes but sometimes we get so wrapped up in the moment and make them anyway. What makes you a person of integrity is how you handle a mistake after its been made. If you were to hit your head and then lay in the floor and cry well that would get you no where. Just like in life, If you make a mistake you acknowledge that the mistake has been made, fix it, let it heal and move on!"
He is so right and what a great analogy! We never go out looking to make a mistake but sometimes it just happens but its how we handle it that makes us people of integity. We arent perfect people but we do serve a perfect God. I thank Him for His mercy and grace that covers us! I hope you got a little something out of this story. I sure did!
On another note, I have some exciting news! I am currently associated with the Central Arkansas Performing Arts Academy. Our first show is November 5th and I am SO excited! The weird thing is, Im also nervous! Ive been performing pretty much forever in church and school plays and have never really been that nervous. I dont know what it is about this that makes it more nerving but I'll be sure to keep you updated on how its all going.
Im also excited that tomorrow night at The Assembly Bro. Bob Willhite will be ministering. He is an 81 year old man who is an amazing prayer warrior. Im so ready to hear what he has to say.Im sure Ill be blogging again after church tomorrow to tell you all about it!
Oh, and shout out to my first follower, Kerry! Remember me talking about Somer in the last blog? Well, thats her momma...Im sure you will be hearing about her in future blogs too....she's pretty cool! :)
